OBJECTIVE OF HEAT TREATMENTS

The heat treatments that we offer at Elhco have three general purposes:

  • Stress relieving
    It is a process prior to surface treatments, which, by increasing the temperature, reduces the stress accumulated in the base material during the manufacture of the component without affecting its initial structure or its properties.
  • De-embrittlement of the parts
    After coating a metal part, the hydrogen formed during the electrochemical treatment can diffuse into the crystalline network of the material, causing its embrittlement. This process can be avoided through a heat treatment that is carried out just after the coating, removing the hydrogen from the material.

  • Chemical nickel layer hardening
    By applying high temperatures, a change in the atomic structure of nickel is produced, which provides it a high surface hardness, being able to reach values ​​up to 1000 HV.
