ALUMINIUM ANODISING
Aluminium anodising is an electrolytic process in which an anodic layer of aluminium oxide is formed on its surface. This layer, once sealed, provides corrosion resistance properties. Without sealing, it can be a good mordant for priming and subsequent painting of the pieces.
At Elhco we have 3 anodising types:
- Sulfuric or natural: untoned after application to increase corrosion resistance and/or as an etching agent for the primer.
- Chromic: provides high resistance to corrosion.
- Hard: for technical coatings that require surface hardness in addition to corrosion protection.
With regard to sealing, at Elhco we offer it using either water or sodium dichromate. The colours are indicative since the final shade will depend on the thickness of both anodic layer and initial aluminium alloy.
